Steering Joint 3D Model

This Steering Joint 3D model was captured with an Artec 3D Scanner.

This part has a cylindrical shape, which is difficult for any scanner that relies on geometrical tracking, and would be difficult for any scanner that relies on targets, since it is thin and has geometry on its surface which mustn’t be be obstructed. An easy way to scan it was to place it over a texture rich background and scan it from two sides, then auto-align them by the geometry provided by the slightly tilted joint.
