There are countless reasons why your 3D printed parts may need to be flexible, pliable, elastic, or soft to the touch. Fortunately, there is a growing range of Stratasys flexible materials on the market today that can deliver just the characteristics you are looking for while being easy to print.

Stratasys FDM Technology – Flexible Material

Stratasys F123 Series 3D Printers FDM TPU 92A material is a resilient thermoplastic polyurethane combining flexibility and stretch with abrasion and tear resistance. 3D printing with FDM TPU 92A provides a superior alternative to time-consuming molding or casting methods to produce elastomeric components.

Potential Applications

Robots that grab, grip, or have suction cups would be a great application for the FDM TPU 92A material, especially to avoid scratching other parts. For manufacturing applications, the material would be great for jigs and fixtures where a soft touch is required, for one-off custom enclosures that need to be sealed, for cooking utensil prototypes, or for modern drills with soft handle grips that are over-molded. Also, the applications for custom gaskets are endless, especially those with more complex and non-planar boundaries.

Stratasys PolyJet Technology – Flexible Materials

Stratasys Agilus30 is a superior rubberlike PolyJet photopolymer, ideal for advanced design verification and rapid prototyping. With Agilus30 you will get more durable, tear-resistant prototypes that can stand up to repeated flexing and bending.

With a Shore A value of 30 in clear, black, white & colors, Agilus30 accurately simulates the look, feel and function of rubber-like products. 3D print rubber surrounds, over molds, soft-touch coatings, living hinges, jigs and fixtures, wearables, grips, and seals with improved surface texture.

Use Cases for Agilus30 colors

  • Sporting goods, masks, food storage containers.
  • Simulating soft tissue for surgical evaluation, planning and medical training.
  • Tooling – knobs, jigs, grips, seals, gaskets, hoses, handles.
  • General prototyping – rubber-like components, surrounds & over molding.
