There are countless reasons why your 3D printed parts may need to be flexible, pliable, elastic, or soft to the touch. Fortunately, there is a growing range of Stratasys flexible materials on the market today that can deliver just the characteristics you are looking for while being easy to print.
Stratasys FDM Technology – Flexible Material
Stratasys F123 Series 3D Printers FDM TPU 92A material is a resilient thermoplastic polyurethane combining flexibility and stretch with abrasion and tear resistance. 3D printing with FDM TPU 92A provides a superior alternative to time-consuming molding or casting methods to produce elastomeric components.
Potential Applications
Robots that grab, grip, or have suction cups would be a great application for the FDM TPU 92A material, especially to avoid scratching other parts. For manufacturing applications, the material would be great for jigs and fixtures where a soft touch is required, for one-off custom enclosures that need to be sealed, for cooking utensil prototypes, or for modern drills with soft handle grips that are over-molded. Also, the applications for custom gaskets are endless, especially those with more complex and non-planar boundaries.

Typical applications for the material
Stratasys PolyJet Technology – Flexible Materials
Stratasys Agilus30 is a superior rubberlike PolyJet photopolymer, ideal for advanced design verification and rapid prototyping. With Agilus30 you will get more durable, tear-resistant prototypes that can stand up to repeated flexing and bending.
With a Shore A value of 30 in clear, black, white & colors, Agilus30 accurately simulates the look, feel and function of rubber-like products. 3D print rubber surrounds, over molds, soft-touch coatings, living hinges, jigs and fixtures, wearables, grips, and seals with improved surface texture.
Use Cases for Agilus30 colors
- Sporting goods, masks, food storage containers.
- Simulating soft tissue for surgical evaluation, planning and medical training.
- Tooling – knobs, jigs, grips, seals, gaskets, hoses, handles.
- General prototyping – rubber-like components, surrounds & over molding.

The Stratasys J35 Pro and J55 Prime can print with Elastico, a rubber like PolyJet photopolymer material with shore A 45 value available in clear and black for advanced design verification and Rapid Prototyping.
It is designed especially for LED curing systems showing improved elongation at break and durable tear resistance for prototypes that can stand up to repeated flexing and bending.
Stratasys Origin One Technology – Flexible Materials
Stratasys LOCTITE 3D IND402 is a single component elastomer material with high elongation and high resilience, excellent tensile strength and high energy return while also not requiring thermal post processing.
Features:
- Elongation at break: 230%
- Energy Return: 35%
- Tear Strength: 28 N/mm tear strength
- Shore values: 75A
