The WRAP is a 3D printer, and not a waste processing machine. It functions in the same way as other 3D printing technologies such as PolyJet, Stereolithography, or DLP, using the same UV light cured resins.

Like all 3D printers, the WRAP does not require a TDSF (Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities) permit from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).

  1. Do I need to monitor the WRAP during the printing process?

  2. What can I do with the printed plastic created by the WRAP?
    The zero-cost plastic is ideal for CNC mills and lathes to generate machined prototypes, jigs and fixtures, or simply to prove a new program which saves potential waste of expensive end-use materials. All printed plastic from the WRAP is safe for disposal as standard household waste.
  3. Is the WRAP a hazardous waste processing machine?
    The WRAP is a 3D printer, and not a waste processing machine. It functions in the same way as other 3D printing technologies such as PolyJet, Stereolithography, or DLP, using the same UV light cured resins. Like all 3D printers, the WRAP does not require a TDSF (Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities) permit from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). The product it prints is a solid plastic stock material. This material can be used for a wide variety of uses, including low-cost media for CNC machining prototypes, jigs, and fixtures. As the WRAP is a 3D printer, the parts printed are safe to dispose of as standard household waste.
  4. Why does the solid plastic stock feel sticky sometimes?
    If your waste contains any PolyJet support material, you may notice that your cured plastic stock has a tacky film on its surface. This is caused by mineral oils contained in the support material. Simply spray with a household cleaner and wipe off. Mixing resin prior to printing helps ensure stock consistency.
  5. Can the WRAP be used in an office environment?
    The printer comes with built-in carbon filtration; however, it is intended to be used in a well-ventilated warehouse or factory environment. The WRAP can not be operated in direct or indirect sunlight. If office environment is required, use of the Onulis exhaust adapter is needed for proper ducting.   1. What resins are compatible with the WRAP?
    The WRAP is compatible with PolyJet. The WRAP Plus is compatible with PolyJet, SLA, and DLP waste resins. There are three Vat offerings: Low Viscosity Vat, Medium Viscosity Vat, and High Viscosity Vat. It is important to use the correct Vat for your resin. Use of an improper resin will cause damage to your machine. To determine the correct Vat for your resin, use of the Vat Viscosity Testing Tool is required.
  2. Can I mix various PolyJet resins in the Vat?
    Yes. All combinations of model or support resins which are caught in the waste reservoir of your PolyJet printer can be placed in the WRAP and full curing will be achieved. The WRAP is also ideal for printing expired resins.
  3. Do I need to filter my resin prior to loading my WRAP?
    No. There is a built-in filtration system in the Vat, and the supplied Disposable Filler Filter catches larger pieces of debris.
  4. How long does it take to empty a full Vat?
    The WRAP will print and cure the 7.5L Vat in approximately 6 hours.
  5. What maintenance does the WRAP require?
    After each use, spray the Vat comb with isopropyl alcohol, use the Vat Cleaning Tool, and empty the Resin Catch into the Vat.
  6. Can I re-use the Disposable Tube?
    No. Curing additional waste resin on a partially printed Disposable Tube can cause damage to the machine.
  7. What WRAP items are considered consumables?
    The Vat, Vat Viscosity Testing Tool, Vat Cleaning Tool, Disposable Filler Filters, and Disposable Light Shrouds are all considered consumables and as such are not covered under the warranty or Total Care Maintenance Plan. Consumables can be ordered through TriMech.
